Special and professionally outstanding days are behind the official Central European academy of FC Barcelona, Barça Academy Hungary, as Bernat Villa i Góriz, Technical Director of Barça Academy for the Europe and Africa regions and Project Manager of FC Barcelona’s scouting department, visited Budapest.
The visit once again reinforced the close professional relationship between Barça Academy Hungary and FC Barcelona. The Catalan specialist not only visited the academy in Budapest, but also took part in the international Football Forum Hungary event, where the key topics shaping modern football were in focus.
Professional Topics of Modern Football in One Place
The Football Forum Hungary programme featured key topics such as youth development, scouting, data analysis, club models, and the future of football. Bernat Villa’s presentation was particularly inspiring, as he highlighted one of Barça’s core values: player development is not only a technical process, but also a human one.
The pathway between La Masia and the first team is not merely about results. It is much more about identity, humility, decision-making, courage, and the playing philosophy that has made FC Barcelona truly special for generations.
According to Barça’s philosophy, a player’s development cannot be separated from the person behind the player: technical training, decision-making, character, and responsibility towards the team all work together to shape the footballers of the future.
Barça Academy Hungary follows this same approach, with training built around the very same values. Alongside technical development, particular emphasis is placed on character development, correct decision-making, creativity, as well as humility and responsibility within team play.
Professional Visit to the Academy in Budapest
In the days following the forum, Bernat Villa visited the academy in Budapest, where he personally observed the professional work taking place on site. The training process is supervised and directed on a daily basis by Martí Nadal, the Technical Director delegated by FC Barcelona.
During his visit, Bernat Villa closely followed the development of our players, held professional consultations regarding the players and their further development opportunities, and also attended a match. He also delivered an intensive training session for the academy’s coaches, followed by a practical demonstration training session together with our U12 team.
Special Feedback and Recognition for Our Academy
The Technical Director’s presence in Budapest was a special occasion for us, and at the same time valuable feedback on the work of Barça Academy Hungary and the committed professional approach that defines the daily operation of our academy.
